The purpose of the invention is to improve accuracy in distance measurement by using Z pixels having the same size as visible-light pixels. In this solid-state image pickup device, a visible-light conversion block includes: a plurality of visible-light conversion units on each of which a light reception surface for receiving visible light is arranged, each visible-light conversion unit generating an electrical charge corresponding to the amount of visible light received; and a visible-light charge holding unit that exclusively holds, in respectively different periods, the electrical charges generated by the respective visible-light conversion units. An infrared-light conversion block includes: a plurality of infrared-light conversion units each having substantially the same size as the light reception surface of the visible-light conversion unit and on each of which a light reception surface for receiving infrared light is arranged, each infrared-light conversion unit generating an electrical charge corresponding to the amount of infrared light received; and an infrared-light charge holding unit that collectively and simultaneously holds the electrical charges generated by the respective infrared-light conversion units. |
