This invention provides a thinning detection device that can test for thinning in a target region in a contactless manner. Said thinning detection device, which tests for thinning in a target region of a piece of metal, has a current output unit that runs a reference current through electrodes mounted so as to sandwich said target region, a magnetic sensor that is fixed in place in midair above the target region and detects the magnetic field produced by the reference current, and a determination unit that compares the output of the magnetic sensor to a preset threshold to determine whether or not thinning has occurred in the target region. |
