A device (D) is intended to aid a driver of a vehicle (V). This device (D) comprises processing means (MT) designed, in the presence of at least one item of primary information signalling the possibility that the vehicle (V) is beginning a manoeuvre, to obtain groups of image data which are representative of intermediate images acquired at successive moments in at least one acquisition zone (ZA) partially surrounding the vehicle (V) and constituting part of a chosen zone (ZE), and, if a manoeuvre does actually begin at a moment, to make available a representation of a synthetic image (IZ) in a chosen view of this chosen zone (ZE) at this moment, which has been built up from the groups of image data obtained and can be displayed on a screen (EC) present in the vehicle (V). |
