PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem in a network where the frame length is not fixed, e.g., Ethernet(R), that signal degradation cannot be detected conventionally with high accuracy.SOLUTION: A transmitter on the transmission side has a sequence number giving unit for giving the added value of the frame length of a frame transmitted continuously in time, and the sequence number being given to the frame, as the sequence number of a frame transmitted next. A transmitter on the receiving side has a sequence number monitoring unit for receiving the frame to which a sequence number is given, determining an expectation by adding the frame length of the frame and the sequence number thereof, and detecting the difference between the sequence number of a frame received next and the expectation as the missing frame length. |
