PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thyristor starting device that stably starts a synchronous machine.SOLUTION: A power conversion section 91 converts supplied power to three-phase AC power to be supplied to armatures of a synchronous machine 4. An AC voltage detector 8 detects three-phase AC voltages of the armatures of the synchronous machine 4. A rotor position detection section 11 detects a rotor position of a rotor on the basis of the three-phase AC voltages detected by the AC voltage detector 8. An inverter control section 19 controls the power conversion section 91 on the basis of the detected rotor position. An energization command section 15 outputs, to the power conversion control section 19, a start command to start the supply of the three-phase AC power to the armatures of the synchronous machine 4 after the supply of a field current to the rotor of the synchronous machine 4 is started. The command section 15 decides the timing of outputting the start command on the basis of the rotor position detected by the rotor position detection section 11 after the supply of the field current to the rotor of the synchronous machine 4 is started. |
