A microwave-assisted magnetic recording (MAMR) head 10 comprises a body 13 having a main pole 8, maybe made of CoFeNi, CoFe, or FeNi, which is configured to emit a recording magnetic field, and a microwave oscillator 9 positioned on a trailing side surface 18 of the main pole 8, the main pole 8 serving as a first electrode and having a front portion 14 parallel to or forms a part of an air bearing surface (ABS) B-B, wherein the MAMR head body inclines at an acute angle 22 to the ABS, such that the acute angle 22, possibly 10-30 degrees, is formed between a trailing side 18 and the ABS B-B. Further aspects include a hard disk comprising the head, and a method of production involving substrate 16, alumina layer 1 and reactive ion etching (RIE) of resistive pattern films and masking layers. |
