An endoscope (10) observes an object to be observed, the endoscope (10) being provided with the following: a light source (130) that emits illumination light for illuminating the object to be observed; a lens barrel (30) that transmits the illumination light and light reflected by the object to be observed; a guide tube (20) that guides the lens barrel (30) to the object to be observed; a connector (50) to which the lens barrel (30) and the guide tube (20) are attached; and a connector socket (60) to/from which the connector (50) is attachable/detachable. The light source (130) is disposed in the connector socket (60).
