A device for preventing rearward movement of a vehicle pedal assembly in which a sub-bracket is rotatably provided to a pedal bracket, wherein the sub-bracket is adequately held at a predetermined orientation under normal circumstance, whereas in a collision, the held state of the sub-bracket is adequately released. One end part (16a) of the sub-bracket (16) rotatably linked to the pedal bracket (14) is detachably supported by a support member (22) provided to an instrument panel reinforcement (20); therefore, the support structure resulting from the support member (22) has a high degree of freedom. In the present embodiment, the one end part (16a) is detachably linked to the support member (22) by a fastening device (46) and a slit (48). Accordingly, it is possible to hold the sub-bracket (16) between the support member (22) and the pedal bracket (14) under normal circumstances so as to make it possible to obtain adequate performance in regard to supporting an operation pedal (30), and cause the one end part (16a) to adequately detach from the support member (22) with a rearward displacement of a dash panel (12). |
