The present invention relates to the technical field of communications. Provided in embodiments of the present invention are a method and device for indicating a physical cell identifier (PCI), for addressing a problem in which when a terminal device simultaneously receives data transmitted by a base station to cells having the same PCI, the terminal device cannot normally acquire information in the received data. The method comprises: according to a first broadcast message transmitted by the base station, determining, by the terminal device, a PCI of a target cell in which the terminal device is located; determining, according to the PCI of the target cell, a first scrambling code; determining, according to a second broadcast message and the first scrambling code transmitted by the base station, an expanded PCI of the target cell, wherein, the target cell is identified by the expanded PCI or by a combination of the expanded PCI and the PCI of the target cell. |
