An air conditioner 10 comprises a frame 14 defining an air inlet 30 at an upper end of the frame and an air outlet 32 at a lower end of the frame. A front 34 defines a width 56 and height 52 with lateral sides 38, 40 defining a depth 54. Heat exchangers 18a-18d oriented at between 3 and 20 degrees from a vertical plane are arranged along the width 56, each heat exchanger having an air inlet face (68a-68d, Fig. 5) facing the air inlet 30 and an air outlet face (70a-70d, Fig. 5) facing the air outlet 32. A fan 16 faces both the air outlet face of at least one heat exchanger 18a-18d and the air outlet 32. A door (50, Fig. 1) provides access to the heat exchangers. An air inlet face area of a heat exchanger 18a is defined by an air inlet face length (72a, Fig. 5) and an air inlet face width (74a, Fig. 5). A total air inlet face area is defined by the air inlet face area of a heat exchanger multiplied by the number of heat exchangers, and is greater than the air inlet area of the frame. The heat exchangers may be arranged in a V shape. |
