[Class 103 (v)] [Also in Group XXXIII] A releasable towing apparatus, in which a link 38 connected to the towed vehicle, ship, or plane is engaged with a claw 9 working between side cheeks on a base 6 attached to the towing vehicle, has the claw 9 pivotally mounted between the side cheeks and formed with an abutment 12 engaging with a shoulder 13 on a pivoted locking-lever 14 urged towards its claw-locking position by spring-controlled togglelevers 24, 28 connected to the locking-lever 14 and a shaft 29 turning between the side-cheeks.' A cableoperated lever 30 keyed on the shaft 29 is used to disengage the locking-lever 14. The spaces between the side-cheeks are covered in by sheet metal parts and the claw 9 fits closely between the cheeks.</p> |
