PURPOSE:To provide a picture forming apparatus using a thermochromic film in which maximum power consumption value can be suppressed by suppressing a temperature drop of heating means at the time of erasing a picture. CONSTITUTION:A halogen heater 13b in a heating roller 13 is applied with a voltage only during a period in which the roller 13 is brought into contact with a nonpicture forming area of a thermochromic film 1 to raise the surface of the roller at a temperature. The roller 13 is heated at its surface by the heater 13b substantially to an upper limit value of a picture erasing temperature immediately before erasing of a picture is started, but not heated on the way of erasing picture forming areas 1a, 1b. However, the surface of the roller maintains a higher temperature than a lower limit value of erasing the picture even at the time of completion of erasing the picture. |
