A pipe cutter for creating an annular cut in the surface of the pipe as it is rotated around the pipe. The pipe cutter comprises cleaning element 14 which cleans the area of the pipe circumferentially opposite of the annular cut during its formation and the cleaning may involve the removal of surface oxidation from the pipe and/or de-burring of the cut in order to prepare the pipe for use after cutting. The pipe cutter further comprises a casing 11, a blade 12 secured to the casing, and a support 13 resiliently moveably secured to the casing. The support urges the protruding portion of the blade into contact with the surface of the pipe so that the blade creates an annular cut in the surface on rotation of the pipe relative to the casing. The cleaning element is ideally abrasive and may comprise one or more brushes. |
