This technology relates to a transmission device, a transmission method, a reception device, a reception method, a transmission system, and a program which enable a reduction in power consumption and an improvement in communication efficiency when transmitting and receiving, in addition to visible image data, additional data instead of audio data, in the DisplayPort (trademark) standard. Visible image data in the DisplayPort (trademark) standard is provided with a format capable of transmitting audio data in addition to the visible image data. When using this format for transmitting audio data to transmit other additional data, in cases when reliability to the degree required for audio data is unnecessary, some of the error-correcting codes included in the format are omitted. This technology is applicable to display ports. |
