The invention relates to a method for treating alkali fluoride-containing hot gas streams, wherein: a. a reactor (3) is simultaneously supplied with alkali fluoride-containing gas and dust-type earth alkali by means of a tube for alkali fluoride-containing hot exhaust gas (1) and a tube for dust-type earth alkali (2); b. inside the reactor (3), the heat of the alkali fluoride-containing gas is used to convert calcium carbonate into CaO; c. the formed CaO is reacted with the alkali fluoride to form CaF2 and alkali oxides; d. the gas-solid matter mixture formed in this way is transported to a cooling reactor (5) and cooled; e. the gaseous components are subsequently separated from the solid components in a gas-solid matter separation system (8) via a discharge opening (12); and f. the solid components made of alkali oxides and CaF2 are subsequently supplied to a water bath via a further tube (9) and these components are separated from one another by means of a solid-fluid matter separator (11).
