To prevent declination of operation rate and functioning due to contamination of the inside of a machining tank, a wire electric discharge machine performing electric discharge machining inside a machining tank comprises a camera photographing the inside of the machining tank and a determination means detecting contamination inside the machining tank based on an image photographed by the camera, and detects contamination inside the machining tank with the determination means.
