PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change the moving speed of a universal head according to the rate of change of an imaging direction.SOLUTION: A front monitor camera device 1 for railroad includes an imaging position determination unit 6 which detects a rail vanishing point at which two rails R of a railroad are seen overlapped or are interrupted, from image information of a wide-angle type camera 3 on the image information of the wide-angle type camera 3, determines the direction of the detected rail vanishing point to be an imaging direction of a telescopic type camera 4, and moves the telescopic type camera 4 in the determined imaging direction. When moving the telescopic type camera 4 form a current imaging direction to a new imaging direction, the imaging position determination unit 6 performs control for moving the telescopic type camera 4 at a moving speed obtained by dividing a movement distance from the current imaging direction to the new imaging direction by a time interval &Dgr;t for performing visual field control. |
