The purpose of the present invention is to provide a detection device capable of detecting an external approaching object and a display device, capable of reducing the possibility that a plurality of scattered light points are viewed while a detection electrode of a conductive material such as a metal material is used. The detection device, capable of detecting an external approaching object, comprises a substrate, and a detection electrode. The detection electrode includes a plurality of thin conductive wires in which a plurality of first thin wire pieces and a plurality of second thin wire pieces are electrically connected with one another. An angle formed by intersection of the first and second thin wire pieces included in the conductive thin wire is constant, and distances between the first thin wire pieces on different conductive thin wires are not constant, wherein the first thin wire piece extends in a first direction and the second thin wire piece extends in a second direction different from the first direction. |
