PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source for illumination which enables improvement of brightness at both longitudinal end parts of a housing.SOLUTION: A light source for illumination 8 includes: a housing 16 having a straight pipe shape; a long substrate 28 disposed in the housing 16; LEDs 30 mounted on a surface 28a of the substrate 28; a circuit board 32 configured to cause the LEDs 30 to turn on and disposed between the substrate 28 and an inner surface 16a of the housing 16 on a rear surface 28b side of the substrate 28; and a spacer 24 used to secure a distance D1 between a rear surface 28b of the substrate 28 and the inner surface 16a of the housing 16, the spacer 24 being fixed to the inner surface 16a of the housing 16.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
