PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a quantity of quicklime, which truly contributes to dilatation and is difficult to measure by a conventional method, to be measured by measuring a coefficient of expansion or a quantity of calcium hydroxide by using fine particles of steel slag.SOLUTION: A method for estimating a quantity of easily expandable quicklime in steel slag includes the steps of: pulverizing the steel slag and dividing the pulverized steel slag into two; adding water of 3-15 pts.mass to one steel slag 100 pts.mass and curing it at normal temperature in one day, and thereafter molding the steel slag; molding the other steel slag without bringing it into contact with water; setting both of two molded products in a uniaxially expandable state, and measuring the maximum value of linear expansion coefficient when curing them at normal temperature at least for two weeks while bringing a part of the molded product into contact with water to absorb water; and obtaining a quantity of quicklime influencing expansion from a difference between both the molded products in quantity of quicklime estimated from the correlation between the linear expansion coefficient and the quantity of quicklime. |
