The present invention relates to superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles intended particularly for use in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as negative contrast substances based on iron oxide and composed of iron oxide core formed by non-stoichiometric superparamagnetic FEi3Oi4 and a surface shell formed by 2-amino-terephthalic acid (ATA) or terephthalic acid (TA).
