Tracking methods 260 are described that operate a plurality of sensors across a geographic region to capture over-the-air identifiers (OTAI) of proximate mobile devices, and correlating the identifiers to detect a trigger indicative of a situation of interest. With the trigger detected, a watch list of the captured OTAI is maintained. A server stores the OTAI and associated information received from any of the plurality of sensors 262. A captured identifier is assigned to an individual 263. Analytics are performed on data received from any of the plurality of sensors 264, and any captured OTAI of interest is tracked, based on the analytics 265. There is a further invention where the OTAI are associated to information gathered via another source and stored together, the source being a police annotation, a vehicle license plate or information registered with the OTAI including an address and driver license information. Another invention has the OTAI associated with an image of a person associated to the device with the OTAI and using facial recognition from a database to identify the person. |
