566,096. Knitting. COTTON, Ltd., W., and OAKLEY, W. June 7, 1943, No. 9138. Drawings to Specification. [Class 74 (ii)] Widening without loop transference is effected upon a straight-bar machine by employing two yarn carriers each feeding a yarn to the needles, controlling their draw so that one traverses two needles beyond the other, and increasing their draw at each edge to be widened by two needles at intervals of not less than four courses. The carrier which traverses beyond the other may be the main carrier, the other carrier feeding a splicing or plating yarn. The two needle difference in traverse may be employed during the knitting of an unwidened or parallel part of the fabric prior to the widening. Each carrier stops over a dividing sinker. |
