PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic voltage regulator dealing with distributed power supplies and its control method that can perform required voltage adjustment by autonomous determination control if power supply direction information from a computer does not arrive.SOLUTION: When it is determined that a situation has occurred in which a communication circuit part 10 cannot obtain power supply direction information due to a computer failure, communication line 14 cut-off or the like, a tap changeover control circuit 12 outputs a tap changeover command to perform autonomous determination control. Whenever tap changeover is performed, the tap changeover control circuit 12 determines a power supply direction is a forward direction if voltage difference between the detected voltage of a measuring instrument transformer 6 before tap switchover and the detected voltage of the measuring instrument transformer after the tap switchover is larger than a predetermined threshold value, and outputs a tap switchover command from a voltage regulation relay 8 to a tap switcher 3, and it determines that the power supply direction is an inverse direction if the voltage difference is smaller than the threshold value, and outputs a tap switchover command to switch a tap to a pre-specified tap position to the tap switcher 3. |
