摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a five-level power converter that has a reduced number of capacitor components.SOLUTION: A five-level voltage conversion section 200 comprises diodes D1-D4 connected in series, a flying capacitor C1 connected between a common node of D1, D2 and a common node of D3, D4, switching elements S1, S2 connected between both ends of C1, and switching elements S3, S4 connected to a common node of D2, D3. A similar five-level voltage conversion section 200' is also provided. A common node O of S1, S2 is connected to an input terminal A for an AC power supply via a reactor L. A load 120 is connected between cathodes of D1, D1' and anodes of D4, D4'. Clamp capacitors C2, C3 are connected between both ends of the load 120. Ends of S4, S4' are connected to a common node NP of C2, C3. S1-S4 are controlled on/off to output a five-level voltage between the common nodes O and NP.
