Optical assembly and optical cable thereof

An optical cable assembly comprises at least one optical waveguide (11), an electrically conductive layer (12) that surrounds the at least one optical waveguide, at least one strength member (14, 15, 16) disposed between the at least one optical fiber and the electrically conductive layer (12), and a sheath (13) that surrounds the electrically conductive layer. The assembly has a low cross-sectional diameter and is very flexible. The assembly can be used to transmit optical signals and electrical signals or electrical power at the same time to connect opto-electronic circuitry.
