摘要 576,150. Chucks. FORGES ET ATELIERS DE MEUDON. Jan. 20, 1942, No. 837. Convention date, Feb. 21, 1941. [Class 83 (iii)] Chucks are power operated by rotary motors housed within the chuck body. As applied to a scrolloperated chuck, the back of the scroll plate 7 has teeth meshing with a bevel pinion 9 driven' through intermediate gearing 13 from a fluid-pressure motor 16. To balance the thrust on the scroll plate, a second pinion 9<1> is fitted, driven from a motor 16'. Balancing of the chuck body is thus obtained. In the case of large chucks, more than two motors &c. may be fitted. The motors are reversible and are supplied with compressed air by pipes 19, 20 within the spindle and connected to an end piece 21 rotating within a packed sleeve 22 having connections to fixed pipes 23, 24 controlled for admission at 26 and exhaust at 27 by a hand-operated valve 28. The motors have constant torque that is equal in either direction of running and are preferably of the gear type. Hydraulic or electric motors may be employed. The plate 7 need not be a scroll plate, but may, for example, drive pinions on transverse screws operating the jaws. The pinion shaft 9 is cut for key operation at 10 and the ends of the intermediate and motor shafts may also be adapted to receive a key.
