A door fitting assembly 1 comprises a shoe F1.1 adapted to receive a first location of a door, a holding mechanism to engage a second location of the door and a mechanism for raising and lowering the shoe. The first location may be a corner of the door and the holding mechanism may comprise at least one clamp F1.2, F1.3. The assembly may comprise at least one wheel F1.4 located adjacent the shoe and may include at least one ball caster or rubber foot. The mechanism for raising or lowering the shoe may comprise at least one hand operated lever F1.6 having two lever arms which causes the shoe to slide along a guide member F1.9. The assembly may further comprise detachable stabilising and hinge-fitting devices. A template member may be provided to facilitate the fitting of butt hinges. The invention also relates to a method of fitting a door using the assembly. |
