摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a main spindle drive device of a machining center, whose output can be made high using a compact drive mechanism, which can obtain the optimum torque/output characteristics over all rotation areas from a low speed rotation area to a high speed rotation area, and which can rotate a main spindle with high accuracy and low vibration.SOLUTION: The main spindle drive device of a machining center has: a first drive motor 2 which is arranged on an axis line of a main spindle 1, and directly drives the main spindle 1; a second drive motor 4 which is arranged in parallel with the axis line of the main spindle 1, and drives the main spindle 1 via a reduction gear mechanism 6; and a controller 10 which controls rotational speed of the first drive motor 2 and the second drive motor 4 to make output of the respective drive motors 2, 4 with different reduction ratio cooperate with each other, and simultaneously drives the first drive motor 2 and the second drive motor 4. The reduction gear mechanism 6 includes: a spindle gear 8 fixed to the main spindle 1; and a shift gear 7 which meshes with or disengages from the spindle gear 8 by a shift mechanism.
