A continuously variable transmission provided to a vehicle is provided with: a variator (20); an auxiliary transmission mechanism (30); a cooperative control means; and a foot-operated gear-shift control means (see fig. 5 ) for implementing non-cooperative control in which the auxiliary transmission mechanism (30) is downshifted at a quicker gear-shift speed than that during cooperative control. In this control device for the continuously variable transmission equipped with the auxiliary transmission, when the depression shift control means ( FIG. 5 ) sets a target transmission gear ratio of the variator (20) to a predetermined value that is higher than a value of a control lowest transmission gear ratio.
