A label construction including a carrier 203,204 and a label releasably adhered to said carrier. The label includes a layer of Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive (PSA) 205 disposed on the carrier and structured to releasably adhere the label to the carrier. A layer of heat-activated adhesive 207 is disposed on the PSA layer such that the PSA layer is between the carrier and the heat-activated layer. A label substrate 209 is disposed on the heat-activated layer such that the heat-activated layer is disposed between the PSA layer and the label substrate. The PSA may melt at a temperature below the application temperature of the heat-activated adhesive. The PSA may be less than half the thickness of the heat-activated adhesive. The carrier may be a web with a plurality of labels adhered, and this web may be wound to form a roll. A method of affixing the abovementioned label to an article is also disclosed. |
