The invention relates to a process for making a singly curved panel. In particular, the process comprises
a) winding at least one sheet of a reinforcing material around a cylindrical mandrel to create a cylindrical hollow article around the mandrel,
b) subjecting the cylindrical hollow article around the mandrel to heat and/or pressure to provide a consolidated cylindrical hollow article, and
c) cutting the consolidated cylindrical hollow article into at least one singly curved panel,
wherein the at least one sheet of reinforcing material comprises at least two monolayers of unidirectionally oriented high-strength fibers, and wherein the main extension directions of the unidirectionally oriented high-strength fibers in adjacent layers is non-unidirectional. |
