PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focus adjustment device which can perform suitable focus adjustment.SOLUTION: A focus adjustment device comprises: a focus detection unit 21 to detect a shift amount of an image surface caused by an optical system having a focus adjustment optical system 32; a focus adjustment unit 36 to perform focus adjustment of the optical system by making the focus adjustment optical system 32 drive in an optical axis direction; a determination unit 21 to determine whether the shift amount can be detected; and a control unit 21 to inhibit drive of the focus adjustment optical system 32 by the focus adjustment unit 36 until the shift amount is detected more than an appointed count in a state that the focus adjustment optical system 32 does not drive, and to perform drive control processing to admit drive of the focus adjustment optical system 32 by the focus adjustment unit 36 when the shift amount is detected more than the appointed count. |
