The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display device. More particularly, the present invention relates to a liquid crystal display device which controls the quantity of incident light from a back light unit and greatly improves the contrast ratio of black and white. According to the embodiment of the present invention, the liquid crystal display device further includes a display panel displaying an image and a separate light control panel between a back light unit and the display panel. The contrast ratio of the image can be greatly improved by controlling the quantity of light applied to each pixel according to the luminance property of the image.
