PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon material for a lithium ion secondary battery, capable of achieving a lithium ion secondary battery excellent in balance between charge capacity, discharge capacity and charge/discharge efficiency and high in large current characteristics, to provide a negative electrode material for the lithium ion secondary battery; and to provide the lithium ion secondary battery.SOLUTION: A carbon material for a lithium ion secondary battery of the present invention comprises a plurality of particles. When D5, D50 and D95 denote a 5% cumulative particle diameter, 50% cumulative particle diameter and 95% cumulative particle diameter from a small diameter side in a cumulative distribution in terms of volume, D50 is 1 μm or more and 50 μm or less, and D95/D5 is 2 or more and 30 or less. |
