The method involves producing compressed gas pulses by a compressed gas supply device (32), where the pulses are repeated at a frequency. A striking part (20) is accelerated by the pulses, and an impact body (22) is struck by the accelerated striking part. Impulses of the struck impact body are used for producing pressure waves, and pressure values, frequencies and/or time duration of the pulses are adjusted. Preset time duration values for the pressure values and/or the frequency values are selected and adjusted corresponding to the adjusted pressure values and/or frequency values.
