PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a turret lathe in which a mechanism for changing a cutting tool is not positioned in the periphery outside the turret and a sufficient space can be ensured in the periphery outside the turret.SOLUTION: A turret lathe 1 includes: a rotary spindle 11 for supporting a workpiece 8 by a chuck 111; cutting tool holding units 5A, 5B for holding cutting tools 7A, 7B; a turret 4 for arranging the cutting tool holders 5A, 5B in plural numbers; a tool rest 2 for turnably supporting the turret 4; a turning drive source 22 for turning the turret 4; a cutting tool replacing drive source 21 disposed at the back side D2 in the tool rest 2; a transmission mechanism unit 3 for transmitting the power by the cutting tool replacing drive source 21 to the cutting tool holders 5A, 5B; and locking mechanism units 6A, 6B for performing the locking and unlocking of the cutting tools 7A, 7B to the cutting tool holders 5A, 5B. |
