[Class 39(ii)] In a battery lamp of the type provided with a tandem bayonet joint connection between a cap 2 and body 1, one of which is movable relative to the other for switching purposes, a helical spring 15 located at the bulb end of the battery '13 operates to hold the battery circuit open when a pin 12 projecting inwardly from the cap 2 is engaged within a notch 11, Fig. 2, (not shown) in the first or leading bayonet slot, the circuit being closed by moving the cap inwardly to com- 'press both the spring 15 and a relatively stronger spring 14 located between the bottom of the battery and the end of body or casing 1, a further relative rotation serving to engage the pin 12 in a retaining notch in the second or inner bayonet slot. The lamp is adapted for use as a cycle rear light by providing a red tinted prismatic disc 4 which co-operates with a reflector 5 comprising the bulb holder.
