<p>An industrial styrene solution is used as the initial material as source of styrene and solvent in the process of the parent Specification. The industrial styrene solution is preferably obtained by distillation from coal tar or crude benzole or from aromatization of mineral oils. If desired, it may be concentrated before use and terpenes may be added to the mixture. Partially polymerized polyhydric alcoholic mixed esters with which the styrene solution is copolymerized include linseed stand oil, dehydrated castor oil, alkyd resins and the product obtained by heating together blown linseed oil and oiticica oil. A solution of styrene in xylenes suitable for re-use in the process may be recovered from the product by distillation. Specifications 575,766, 575,771 and 580,912 are referred to.</p> |
