An image processing apparatus (9) which performs reduction processing for rendering data in accordance with a reduction ratio, the apparatus characterized by comprises edge extraction means (14) for extracting edges from a contour of an object in the rendering data; saved line specification means (15) for specifying, out of lines including the edges extracted by the edge extraction means (14), lines each having an outer shape feature of the object as saved lines which are lines not subjected to thinning processing; and thinning processing means (16) for thinning out lines other than the saved lines in the object, thereby performing the reduction processing for the rendering data, wherein the saved line specification means (15) specifies saved lines by determining the outer shape feature of the object in accordance with characteristics of the edges. |
