Disclosed is a fuel cell system that generates electric power for driving an external load by using air supplied from an air supplying unit for supplying air to a fuel cell stack, the fuel cell system including: a supply-air control unit that supplies air to the fuel cell stack in accordance with a requested power-generation amount; and a determination unit that, on the basis of the state of operation of the fuel cell system, determines whether a sudden increase in power-generation amount is predicted, or determines that the power supply performance to the external load has deteriorated. If it is determined that a sudden increase in power-generation amount is predicted, or it is determined that the power supply performance has deteriorated, the supply-air control unit increases the amount of air to a greater amount than an air flow rate corresponding to the requested power-generation amount. |
