摘要 571,026. Resilient mountings. BARBER, W. E., and COLE, J. O. July 22, 1943, No. 11927. [Class 108 (iii)] A resilient mounting comprises a base member and a supported member forming part of the body to be supported, or attached thereto, and a resilient portion secured between the members in the form of two co-axial opposed cones having their bases secured to an annular plate or the like which forms one of the members, the resilient. portion being in tension. As shown in Fig. 3, the mounting, supported by a pedestal 7, comprises two rubber cones 2 each bonded to an axial metal tube 3 and around a hole in a base-plate 1, the two baseplates being secured together so that the ends of the two tubes 3 abut to form a sleeve for a bolt 5 by means of which the body to be supported is attached to the mounting. For supporting a small instrument, e.g. a voltmeter, the tubes 3 may be of large diameter to receive the instrument casing. To prevent excessive movement of the mounting in the direction of the axis of the tubes 3, circular metal plates 4, which .alternatively may be cup-shaped, are secured on the tubes, while, for the prevention of lateral movement, a washer (not shown) may be provided on the tubes where they abut. Each rubber cone may be clamped to its baseplate by a ring and only one base-plate may be employed for a pair of cones. In another construction, Fig. 9, helical springs 13, 14 arranged in cone formation connect washers 10 on a tube 11 with a base-plate 12, the outer ends of the springs being anchored to a circular wire 15 secured to the base-plate by upwardly and downwardly-bent tongues 16, 17 while the inner ends are secured similarly to a wire 18 held by tongues 19 extending from each washer 10. Excessive movement is prevented by plates 20 having fingers 21 adapted to engage the baseplate 12, and resonant vibrations are damped by a pair of cylindrical or saucer-shaped metal members 30, having interlocking teeth 31, which are slidable on the tube 11 and are pressed by a spring 32 against the springs 13, 14. In addition to the conical arrangement of springs, a number of radial springs may be arranged in the plane of the base-plate and anchored between the base-plate and a collar on the central tube, through which collar the tube is slidable. In a modification, vibrations are damped by U-shaped spring clips pressing against the insides of the springs 13, 14. In a further construction of mounting, the springs 13, 14 form, in plan view, the outline of a four-point star. Fig. 16 shows another application of rubber springs in which the tube 50 is connected to the base-plate 51 by sheets or webs 52 of rubber.
