An animal lifting device 1 for lifting an animal or part of an animal comprises a rotatable bar 2, a mounting bracket 3 for attaching the rotatable bar 2 to an animal crush (11, fig 3) or the like, a movement facilitating device 4 attachable to the rotatable bar 2 and a means for attaching 5 the rotatable bar 2 to the animal or part of an animal. An animal crush (11, fig 3) including the lifting device 1 and a method of lifting an animal or part of an animal are also disclosed. In particular the lifting device 1 can be used to lift a calf from the calving bed during a caesarean section and can also be used to facilitate the lifting of animal hooves. The movement facilitating device 4 may include a ratchet system or a puller moveable along a line attached to the rotatable bar 2. |
