[Class 6 (ii)] Operation of a fork or spade is facilitated by an attachment comprising a spring which is flexed during the earlier part of the soil lifting operation but unbends or unwinds to assist the latter part of the lifting and turning of the loosened soil. The attachment includes a shaft B connected by interengaging eyes B<x>, A<6> to a collar A<4> clamped on the shaft A<1> of the implement, and a tread - plate C brought to rest on the ground by the insertion of the tines A. The connecting hinge pin B<1> is enveloped by one or a pair of springs D opposing tilting of the handle A<1> until the tines A have loosened the soil when both the tines and soil pivot upwardly about the connection A<6>, B<x>. Thereafter the soil may be tipped aside by the universal character of the same connection. A chain E limits the separation of the members B, C. The handle A<2> is provided with an extension A<3>. |
