An autostereoscopic 3D display device according to the present invention enables a viewer to view a 3D image irrespective of a viewer position by transposing view data of an image panel according to the viewer position. In order to accomplish this, the autostereoscopic 3D display device according to the present invention mathematizes and analyzes the kinds and the number of images recognized by left and right eyes of a user as well as the distribution of the images on the image panel according to the viewer position. At this time, the autostereoscopic 3D display device according to the present invention increases a ratio of a 3D area by overlapping viewing diamonds or decreases a 2D area by inserting black data into a view of the 2D area. Also, the autostereoscopic 3D display device according to the present invention suppresses crosstalk resulting from a view overlapping through a view data rendering. As described above, according to the present invention, a degree of freedom in viewing can be increased by enlarging a 3D viewing area and costs can be reduced by removing a gap glass. The autostereoscopic 3D display device comprises: the image panel which displays input data of a multi-view, wherein first to m-th views are sequentially allocated in m (m is a natural number) sub pixels; a 3D filter which is arranged in front of the image panel and separates optical axes of the input data to generate a viewing diamond in which first to K^th (K is a natural number satisfying 1<=K<=m) view images are displayed at an optimum viewing distance; and a timing controller which calculates a position of the viewer and a view corresponding to the 2D area, and overlaps the viewing diamonds with one another based on the calculated position and view. |
