The present invention relates to a water-soluble polyester resin and a composite fiber using the same. More specifically, the present invention relates to the production of a water-soluble polyester resin with excellent heat resistance and the reduction rate, which is produced by using a specific acid component and a specific diol in the optimal ratio. The present invention further relates to the production of a composite fiber using the same, exhibiting excellent mechanical properties.
