A light emitting device of the present invention includes a substrate, a light emitting structure which includes a first conductivity type semiconductor layer, an active layer and a second conductivity type semiconductor layer successively arranged on the substrate, and at least one passivation layer which is arranged on the lateral side of a contact hole which penetrates the second conductivity type semiconductor layer and the active layer and exposes the first conductivity type semiconductor layer and the second conductivity type semiconductor layer. The at least one passivation layer includes at least one penetration hole arranged on the second at least one second conductivity type semiconductor layer. So, heat dissipation efficiency can be improved.
