[Class 122 (iii)] [Also in Group XXVIII] A sealing gasket, for use in a joint for beaded pipe ends, comprises a rubber or like resilient ring 19, Fig. 1, having an internal annular groove 21 and fitted at one end with an expansible metallic ring 22 both rings preferably being formed as an unitary structure. The ring 22 shown is an annular armour helix which is moulded into the rubber composition of the gasket. The other end of the gasket may have a ring 23 similar to but smaller in crosssection than ring 22. Fig. 4 shows a modification in which the gasket is wedge-shaped. The metal ring in either case may be a split or sectional ring and may be separate from the rubber ring.
