A valve guide 48 for a reciprocating engine 10 including a passageway 102 that may receive a shaft of a poppet valve 100 and an inner wall 116 defining the passageway and having a first surface and a second surface, the first and second surfaces forming part of the passageway. The first surface includes a first material 136 and the second surface includes a second material. The first and second materials are different. The valve guide also includes at least one mechanical lock 138 between the first and second materials, wherein the at least one mechanical lock is disposed within the inner wall along the passageway. |
