An embodiment of the present invention provides a method for authenticating a password based on pattern information in a service providing server. The method for authenticating a password based on pattern information comprises the steps of: providing a user terminal with a virtual keypad on which numbers, symbols, or texts are randomly arranged, so as to allow a user to input a combination of the numbers, the symbols, or the texts according to preregistered patterns in the virtual keypad; generating a one-time password from the numbers, the symbols, or the texts according to the preregistered patterns on the virtual keypad; and receiving the combination of the numbers, the symbols, or the texts inputted by the user as a password and performing authentication through a comparison between the received combination and the generated one-time password. |
